Brian de Palma and Al Pacino + Scarface. Right??? Nope, it can also Be Carlito's way. But Carlito'sWay is no Scarface. Yep it's good, but not Scarface. In fact, scrap that, because at times it is like Scarface. The camera work, the dialogue, the movement. But herein lies the problem. It's the same director, it's the same lead and although not the same story it is a similar genre of crime. Too many similarities pointing to the better movie for me. If I could offer you a reason to watch, it would simple be that it is a great film. Just make sure you devote a clear two hours to view it and you clear you memory of Scarface beforehand.

Love Carlito's Way. A great film. I remember seeing it when it first came out and being blown away. Great filmmaking from Mr DePalma. Shame he hasn't managed to come close since.

There's the notion floating around that which ever movie you saw first...Goodfellas or Casino...that is the movie that you'll prefer.
That applies to Scarface and Carlito's Way, I think. Love both movies but I saw Carlito first and it blew me away.
The Subway/Grand Central Station sequence, near the end, remains a classic DePalma moment.
I can dig that reasoning Rob. Especially for the DePalma movies.
That man sure loves Grand Cenral Station. He must have hated Michael Bay.
