Something has been bothering me about Lost. It's not the series as it's one of the best TV shows ever (not as good as BSG). It's not the ending as I thought it was a fantastic ending to a TV Show. So many shows don't end. So many shows drag themselves on for far too long and when they finally do end they don't tell you anything (X Files). It's not even the hundreds of poor SKY One Lost exclusive shows which are some of the poorest efforts of TV ever. Iain Lee, what happened??......
Nope, It's the CGI in the last season. Some of the worse I've seen in a TV show. Where did the budget go. Anything in the water was like someone had just switched over to a cartoon. It would give Primeval a run for its money in the 'you know it's not real so we're not even going to try' stakes. Bizarre....

You're right. There was some dodgy CGI in the last season, Maybe they switched FX companies, which is often the case?
Your headline is obviously a comment regarding the basic desktop CGI ib Babylon 5. It's funny, but because the whole production of that show (from the wobbly sets, echoy sound, soap opera cursing) was so tacky...the CGI fell right in with the style of the show...just like vintage Blakes Seven or 80's Doctor Who.
Talking of which...have you seen some of the abysmal FX in this season's Who? The whole series is produced to a really high standard so the crap CGI clouds and monsters stand out like a sore thumb.
You might find this link amusing. The CHUD website are currently running a series on the worst CGI in history. They're upto 16 at the moment...and it's pretty acurate too.

Yep, it was of course a nod to B5. But it wasn't really a dig. The fx on that show were pretty cutting edge at the time (certainly in the amount) and its only in retrospect that you see how average they are, or how far removed they look from the non cgi shots.
Not seen any of the new season of Who yet, but I have always found a lot of the fx imagery too much for the budget. It's one of the things that turned me off of it. Well that and the Scottish bloke.
