The film that started it all. For me at least. Scared the bejebus out of me when I first saw it, alone, late at night, the lights down low. Wooah! 'What the fuck is going on?' Gripped from the start to the finish, even if the voiceover woman did try to ruin the bleak ending for me. Hmm, started my hatred for amateurs as well then. This is a powerhouse of a movie that still hits home today. That's because of the social commentary running throughout the film. George is a lover of that in his movies. Even if you don't want to see or hear it, it's very being there makes the horror the better for it. I have seen this film so many times (along with the other 2 of the preferred 'Trilogy of the Dead') and it never loses a thing. Zombies man, they are freaking scary!!!!!!!

Also, every time I meet someone named Barbara I say "They're coming to get you Bar-ba-ruh" but no one ever gets it.
Such is life, I suppose, surrounded by people who don't realize Romero's greatness.
(Day of the Dead is my least favorite though...)
Yep. NOTLD is a brilliant classic of a film. I'm a huge fan of Romero and especially his zombie flicks with the goofy comic book of Dawn being my favourite and the first one I ever saw as dumbfounded, grossed out yet fascinated kid watching a dodgy old VHS copy while on holiday.
Night kicked off the greatest horror series ever. A bunch of films loaded with meaning and intelligence - something far to often lacking in this genre. God bless you George and roll on Survival of the Dead. Yay!
First time I watched this was a colourised version. The unnatural look piised me off within minutes and I switched the TV to monotone from there on.
Then I discovered a classic. Mint.
